Our skin is the first line of defense against invaders such as bacteria and viruses. It also helps to maintain our body temperature and protect against physical damage. Without the proper care, our skin not only loses its beauty, but its ability to protect us. At all times, skin care products should be used to prevent dry skin; this can cause cracking, which allows toxins to get into the body and cause infections. Skin also ages, along with the rest of our body -- it can lose its elasticity and show telltale signs, such as wrinkling and developing age spots. Skin can also be damaged by exposure to toxins such as the sun and tobacco smoke. However, current damage can be repaired and future damage prevented.
